Promising Weekend in Sight for McAMS Racing

The upcoming weekend hosts the penultimate round of the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike championship, with the family-run outfit of McAMS Racing returning to Donington Park, for a promising weekend on track.

Heading into the tenth round of their 2024 campaign, the Yamaha R1-powered team and Danny Kent sit fifth in the overall championship standings, having progressed through the standings following a podium-finishing weekend last time out at Oulton Park.

As the second stop of three in the 2024 BSB Showdown lies just around the corner, both rider and team feel cautiously optimistic for a fruitful weekend at the Leicestershire venue.

Earlier in the year, the 2.49-mile circuit presented the team with a trio of positive results, having battled amongst the leading pack to end the weekend with a best-place finish of third in the final race of the weekend.

The Donington Park circuit, with its fast and flowing nature combined with heavy braking areas, plays into the characteristics of the world-renowned Yamaha R1 and looks set to provide the squad with a favourable opportunity to score an addition of podium finishes.

As the 2024 Championship drawers towards its closing stages, the McAMS-backed crew have secured a total of seven podium finishes across nine weekends of battle, mounting their most successful season in the premier class to date.

With four third-place finishes and three second-place finishes added to their BSB record this season, the search continues for both the team’s and Kent’s debut victory in the class.

With the team returning to another strong venue, hope is high that the weekend’s triple-header can host an opportunity to grasp a long-awaited top-step finish.

With just a single weekend remaining after this weekend, the team wait in anticipation for what they hope to be a positive end to a successful year on track.

Danny Kent

Rider

“I’m looking forward to getting to Donington Park this weekend, it’s one of my favourite circuits on the calendar and we’ve been strong there in the past, setting the lap record in the sprint race towards the start of 2024. Earlier in the year, even though we only came away with 1 podium, I felt like we could achieve podiums in all 3 races. I hope to go there this weekend and find the same feeling again to hopefully come away with three more strong positions.”

Tim Martin

Team Owner

“Both the team and I are excited to be heading to Donington Park this weekend. We secured a podium there earlier in the year after what was a dramatic battle amongst the guys at the front. We expect the weather conditions to be a bit colder than they were last time. But nevertheless, it’s a venue that Danny likes and one that the Yamaha R1 is very competitive at. We head into the weekend with a confident feeling in our ability to put on a good show and be competitive at the front. With the championship reaching its closing stages, we’re still on the hunt for some podium finishes as we aim to end the season on a high.”
