The second round of the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike championship will swing into action for the McAMS Racing team and rider Danny Kent at Cheshire’s Oulton Park this weekend.
With a further opportunity to make an extended impact on the championship, the weekend is also set to play a big role for the team’s title sponsor, McAMS, who will be appearing as the official sponsor for the upcoming Bank Holiday race weekend.
Following on from a double podium-scoring outing at the Spanish circuit of Navarra, the squad are back on UK soil and feel eager to pick up from where they left off just two weeks ago.
The format for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend remains the same as ever, with track action being held across three days from Saturday to Monday.
Three races, including the season’s inaugural sprint race, lie in store for McAMS Racing, as they look to embark on another mission to be competitive towards the front.
After a healthy two days of testing at Oulton Park on Wednesday and Thursday, the team are looking forward to bringing home a positive set of results.
The team’s two-day stint of testing ahead of the weekend was detrimental in getting the newly built McAMS Racing Yamaha R1 dialled into a new circuit.
Having completed a productive 87 laps across both days, ending the test in tenth overall and clocking in a best time of 1:34.768, the team are keen to venture back out on track, beginning with Free Practice 1 on Saturday at 12:45.
The Oulton Park race meeting will see the green light drop on the first race of the weekend at 16:30 on Sunday evening, followed by the first Sprint race of the year and Race 2 on Monday at 13:15 and 16:15.
The three races bring a further three opportunities to score a host of points for the championship standings, where McAMS Racing and Kent currently lie in joint second, a mere six points from the top.
